3D Design and CAD, 3D Printing - FDM and SLA, Mechanical Design, Fenestration Consultation on Design and Best Practices. Celeritas is the Latin word for swiftness, which is one of the value-adding advantages that is enabled by on-demand design and additive manufacturing. My name is Brian Burke, the sole proprietor of Celeritas Engineering. I am a data scientist and a Mechanical Engineer and I've worked in architectural design for the fenestration industry for the last decade, and before that I worked in medical device engineering compliance and regulation for an applied-cryonics biomedical company in Redwood City, California. I moved to San Juan Island just over 2 years ago, and I am happy to offer my services to help folks get parts designed and made, or to assist in their design-build process in architectural development. Please reach out with any questions!

I have over a decade of experience in 3D printing (referred to as Additive Manufacturing in its commercial/industrial applications) and I am happy to help others turn their 3D designs into physical parts. I have multiple printers, enabling a wide range of capabilities and access to a variety of materials. The quality and functionality of 3D printed parts/objects have come a long way in recent years, and I am happy to offer high quality FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)- or SLA (Stereolithography)- prints, made in a variety of materials. I print in ABS-like resins for fine-detail applications (like for miniatures, fine art sculpts, dioramas, finished part proofing, etc.) and in PLA/ASA/PETG for larger components or for applications that will experience mechanical loads. Elastomers like TPU are also an option, for specialized applications. A discussion of the appropriate printing method and material are part of the quoting process for having parts produced. For print-only services, it is the expectation that the customer will provide the 3D model (in either .STEP or .STL format); if you have need of a part and need it designed, check out my other services!
In my main line of work, I produce Fenestration Diagrams - window and door layouts - that include the project intent as well as the mechanical details of the units in the build. I produce drawing sets for manufacturing, approvals, and installations for the design-build and architectural sectors of the development industry. Should you need anything drawn up in AutoCAD, for any purpose, please reach out.
Whether it's mechanical components, fasteners, jigs, reinforcements, brackets, customization, personalization - you name it - if you can think of the need, I can help design a solution for it. Please note that as a part of having a custom part designed, I generally recommend that we start with a consultation (please see other services offered), so that I can assess your needs to make sure we can build a solution that will address them, and the consultation enables me to deliver you an estimate for the amount of time I would need to actually design the parts/solution that we're considering together.
I design custom parts for a variety of applications - if you have a need and require a physical part purpose-built to address it, I'm happy to meet with you and review what kind of solutions can be designed to meet that need. Whether it's mechanical components, fasteners, reinforcements, brackets, customization, personalization - you name it - if you can think of the need, I can help design a solution for it.
